Haven't posted here in a while. Whoops. It's not that I haven't been knitting/crocheting, that's for sure. Just busy, holidays, you know. And YIPPEE -- I got a good digital camera from Santa! No more crapola photos! ( Here's last night's project. )Not such perfect photos, since they were indoors, but it's a pleasure now to be able to DO indoor photography; I had no flash on my old POS camera, and I'm VERY much enjoying the new capability. To give a better example of the camera's qualities, here's a photo that isn't quite so ( close-up: )I'll hope to get photos of the two finished sets of Fuzzy Feet soon -- they turned out great! And my dad's are a perfect fit, thank goodness. My mom's, we don't know yet -- her feet are in rough shape, so it may be some time before she can try hers on.

My cantankerous camera has decided to give things an overexposed look today, but fwiw: This is the Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride for the Square-a-long. From L-R, Old Sage, Sandy Heather, and Oregano. The greens are fairly true in the pic, but the light yarn is much taupe-ier than this; in the pic it looks pretty white. Nope. Definitely sandy-taupe-y. The other yarn pics were SO overexposed they don't work. I think one should not use a white background with this particular camera. *makes note* I'm pretty pleased with how the L's-P looks together. The greens are not a perfect match, family-wise -- the oregano has more yellow in it than the sage -- but they should work in a patchwork effect, like this blanket will be. So I'm not too worried. I started a sock with my new Regia yarn, but I'm thinking I'll frog and hold off until I get my size 1 and 2 needles. I'm working it on 3s, and it's just not quite tight enough. OTOH, the size 5s with the Woolease are absolutely perfect: nice and dense fabric, easy to work. I think I need to start some sort of...knitting notebook. Write down which needle I used with which yarn for which project. Oh. Well, that's this thing, isn't it? *g* I'm also LOVING the fingerless gloves I did. But seaming them is problematic. I have to seam an inch, then skip a couple of inches for the thumb, and seam the rest. Do I cut off the yarn between the first inch and the remainder? Do I weave it in, don't cut? I tried the former on the first glove, and it's not particularly good. I may use this first set of gloves as a test case for seaming, and see what the second in the pair looks like if I weave the yarn in without cutting. It's not that far. *crossing fingers* Current Mood: calm

Yesterday was a banner day around here -- got my various yarns I've been awaiting! Wheeeee! First, the Lamb's Pride for the square-a-long: 1-lb cones in Sandy Heather, Old Sage, and Oregano. They look even better than I'd hoped, which is SUCH a relief. This won't be enough for the entire project, but it should see me well started. (I will plug the seller here -- NAYY, but I do highly recommend her based on my own experiences. Oregon Trail was VERY fast with shipping, fast and cordial communication, and she refunded some extra shipping charges I had accidentally tacked on. She has a very good selection of Brown Sheep yarns, available in skeins and cones both, and I couldn't be more pleased.) Second -- two skeins of Regia jaquard in the Provence colorway (5720). I couldn't resist, and swatched last night after work before starting a sock already. Heeee. I already see what people are talking about, not being able to stop because you want to see what the next pattern will be.... Third -- more Regia, two skeins of navy and two brown in the Silk. I just want to wallow in this stuff! SO soft! I'm planning to do socks for my dad with these -- nice plain manly colors. Plus he's a sybarite by nature, so he'll love the silky feel. So that's hopefully it for my yarn orgy, for the moment at least. Now I gotta settle down with my WAY too many UFOs, and finish some stuff. ::sigh:: Current Mood: creative

So I agree -- not really THAT big an event. But anyway. Happy anniversary, blog! Took the New And Improved Green Sock with me to work last night, thinking I'd plug along on the instep. *blink* Not when the PER's so busy it's a 7-hour wait. Yipes. It was crazy in there. And gripy parents, oy vey. On the good side: lots of elopements. (Er, today's Obscure Hospital Lingo lesson: "elopement" doesn't have anything to do with marrying secretly -- it's ER-ese for patients who leave before they've seen the doctor. Right up there with seeing someone write "SOB" on your chart. It's not a commentary on your character; it means "shortness of breath." Heeee.) So no notable progress on the Success Sock. But the ever-helpful Socknitter folks had lots of advice on tweaking the shaping for narrow heels, so that will be something I'll apply to the next pair. ONE of these days I will go to work wearing socks I MADE MYSELF. ::sigh:: One of these days. If I were really industrious, I'd go photograph some of the new yarn, WIPs, that sort of thing. But...I'm not, so I won't. Nothing much to see, anyway. Another sock. ::yawn:: This and that. FOs, I'll photograph, but this stuff -- naw. And that's about it for knitting-related content today. Tapping my nails waiting for my knitalong yarns to get here. :::tap::: :::tap::: Current Mood: lethargic
